Guide to Install M.U.G.E.N - Part 4
- Go to
Pots' Mugen-page at http://www.mugenguild.net/~pots/ and select a stage that you want to download. In this example, I am going to take the New York Skyline Stage (top right corner). Click on the Go-Link to download the stage. - Open the rar-file you downloaded. You should fined two files in it, a Onslaught.def and a Onslaught.sff-file. Extract them both in to the /stages-folders, which you can find in your Mugen-directory.
- Now, go in the /data-folder and open the select.def-file. Scroll to the very bottom of the file, where you will find
;-----------------------
Right after these lines, put in another line and write: stages/Onslaught.def (If you downloaded a different stage, replace Onslaught with the name of the .def-file of your stage).
[ExtraStages]
;Put extra stages here. They will be available in VS and Watch modes.
;For example, you can insert "stages/mybg.def". - Save the file and close the editor. The stage is installed and should be playable!

Sephimugen - Characters and Stages
Every character comes with its own sounds and even a one-page history, in French however.
You can also download stages from the website, like the "Stage of the Nightmare."
The site also offers screenpacks and wallpapers for the characters.

First, you have to download a characters. There are many pages, where you can download and choose from characters. Lets go to Pot's Mugen Page for example. Select a character and download it. Here is how you add it.

In this part, we are going to see, how to add some more characters to your game, because playing with Kong Fu Man all the time is, quite honestly, boring.
Before we add more characters, make sure you have completed Part 1 and Part 2 of this guide, because you will not be able to follow the instructions otherwise.
First, you have to download a characters. There are many pages, where you can download and choose from characters. Lets go to Pot's Mugen Page for example. Select a character and download it. Here is how you add it.
- Go and download Pocket Shin Gouki as an example for your game. It comes in a .rar-file and you will need WinRAR to open it. If you do not have WinRAR, search it on download.com and install it.
- You will find a folder called PocShinGouki in the rar-file. Select it and click on "Extract", which you find in the symbol bar of WinRAR. Now, select the folder where you installed Mugen on the right and then click on the folder /chars and click "OK". (NOTE: Sometimes when you extract a character into the chars folder the contents are not always put into a nice folder with the character's name on it. What you need to do then is to cut and paste all of the contents into a new folder in the chars folder. Make sure that the name of the folder matches that of the def file in that folder and the name of the character in the select.def file. Or else he/she will not show up in the selection screen during game play.)
- Now, lets go in the Mugen-Folder and go in the /data-Folder and open the File "select.def" with an editor like Notepad. Scroll down until you find the following passage:
;CAPCOM-------------------------------------------------------^go upwards---
Now, above this passage, you find a lot of "randomselect"-lines. Scroll up until you find
;Mid Point-START ADDING CHARACTERS FROM HERE AND GO OUTWARD!!!
;SNK--------------------------------------------------------vgo downwards---randomselect; Leave this as random select
We are going to go in the next line which should say "randomselect", too. - Now, delete the 2nd "randomselect" (right after the "Leave this as random select") and put in the following text:
PocShinGouki, , order=1
What this means is that the game is going to look for the folder named "PocShinGouki" in the /chars folder and will include this character into the game. - Now, start the game and see if you character is added! Enjoy adding some more characters.
Go on the the next part, where we will see, how to add stages to the game.
If you have problems with adding characters, just write a comment, I'll be happy to help you with it.

Guide to Install M.U.G.E.N - Part 2
Welcome to the 2nd part of the guide to how to install Mugen on your computer. You should have completed the 1st part, if not, you should do that right now.
You should have played the game already and maybe you know Kong Fu Man and his missing opponent Suave Dude, who has never been created by the developers.
But since it is boring to play with just one character on just two stages, we are going to see how to add more characters. First of all, we are going to download a screenpack called EVE-Battle, which stands for Everything versus Everything. It lets you add more characters (up to 10,000 instead of six in the original game) and you can easily select them from an updated interface.
So this is how you install the screenpack:
- Go to this page and scroll down, you will find a link to the download. The screenpack is about 13.5 MB big, but the download should not take to long.
- Open up the zip file and open the folder "EVE Battle" in it. Copy the three folders and files in it and go to the folder where you have Mugen installed. Now, right-click and paste the files in the Mugen-Folder. It will ask you if you want to override the files, select "Yes to all."
- Now open the /data-Folder in your Mugen-Folder and open the /EVEvolve-Folder in it. Copy the files in the /EVEvolve-Folder and paste them into the /data-Folder. Now go back to the Mugen-Folder and start Mugen again! The screenpack should be installed and it should look like the picture on the top of this entry.
Have fun today!!

Guide to Install M.U.G.E.N - Part 1

First we are going to see how to install M.U.G.E.N on your computer. This is quite easy, I'll write it down and you can just follow along the steps with me here:
- First, you gotta go to http://unofficial-winmugen.jpn.org/, this is where you get the basic game. Make sure you download the "No limit winmugen patch"-version. This should take not very long, since the game is quite small, but that doesn't mean its bad!
- After you downloaded the basic game, you should probably go to the folder you downloaded it into and open the file. It's a nice .zip-file. You can just double click it if you have Windows XP or higher. Copy all the files out of it (Select them all with Ctrl+A and right-click and select "Copy") and paste them wherever you want the game to be. Just right-click in the target folder and select "Paste" in the drop-down menu.
- Wasn't it easy? Now you can try to play the game and open the file Winmugen.exe in the folder, where you put the game into. And there you go, now you can play your first Mugen-battle. It might look a little bit boring, because you have only one character and one stage, but we will create an amazing game, just wait until next time!
- Now you can go ahead and explore the game, so you get to know the controls, just play around a little, they might be strange sometime.
Have fun today!!
